Andes initially kidded with triplets and passed her placenta normally. Three days later, she attempted to pass a fourth kid, which was very decomposed and DOA. We rushed her to Oregon State University so they could remove the kid intact without risking complications from decomposed tissue.
Andes stayed at OSU for three nights, where she received IV fluids and antibiotics while being closely monitored for sepsis. Unfortunately, she was not milked regularly during that time, so she came home with limited production.
We’re incredibly grateful that Andes is now safe and healthy. We plan to keep her in milk through 2026 to help rebuild her production and support her long-term longevity.
Next year will be her year!
